Create a Custom Category

Organize and segment users using custom categories and labels in Foundry

Custom Categories allow you to segment users into distinct groups within Foundry. A category represents a broad characteristic used to classify users, while labels define the specific values within that category. For example, a category might be Department, with labels such as Human Resources, IT, Sales, Accounting, and Marketing.

Follow the steps below to create a custom category:

  1. Go to Users > Custom Categories

  2. Click Create New Custom Category

  3. Enter a name for the category

    • Example: Department, Hire Year or Contract Type

  4. Enter the labels that fall into the category, using a comma to separate each one. You can also choose to add labels one at a time.

    • Example: Human Resources, IT, Sales, Accounting

  5. Click Add These Labels which will add your labels as separate entries

  6. Click Save
  7. You should now see your new Category on the Custom Categories page
