Email Activity Reports
Track invitation, reminder, and system email delivery
Foundry sends several automated emails to learners, including invitations, reminders, password resets, and report notifications. Email Activity reports give administrators visibility into what messages were sent, whether they were delivered, and why some users may not be receiving emails.
Email activity data is available in two reports on the Foundry dashboard:
- Email Activity: Sent
- Email Activity: Unsubscribed
Email Activity: Sent
The Email Activity: Sent report provides a complete history of emails sent from your Foundry account. Administrators can review email activity for individual users or analyze performance by message type or template.
This report includes four main sections:
- Summary counts
- Date chart and filters
- Notification activity log
- CSV download
Summary counts
At the top of the report are three cumulative statistics for your account:
- Unique Users Emailed – Number of distinct users who have received at least one email
- Total Emails Sent – Total number of emails sent from Foundry
- Total Emails Clicked – Number of emails where a link was clicked
Date chart and filters
Below the summary counts is a chart showing:
- Total emails sent
- Total emails clicked
Use the Date Range filter to update the chart and all report sections at once.
Notification activity log
The Notification Activity Log provides detailed, row‑level data for each notification event. Each row represents a single email event (such as sent or bounced) and includes:
- Email Address – Learner’s email address
- Message Purpose – Invitation, reminder, password reset, report ready, etc.
- Parent Template – The default template a custom template was based on
- Message Template – The specific template name used
- Message Event Type – Delivery status (for example, Message Sent or Message Bounced)
- Date – Date and time the notification was sent
CSV download
You can download the Email Activity: Sent report as a CSV file. The download includes all visible fields plus a message_id, which uniquely identifies each notification event.
Email Activity: Unsubscribed
The Email Activity: Unsubscribed report explains why certain users are not receiving Foundry emails. This report includes three sections:
- Summary counts
- Bounced and unsubscribed users
- CSV download
Summary counts
Each count represents a different reason an email may not be delivered:
-
Bounced Users
Emails sent to these users have bounced. Once a user is flagged as bounced, Foundry no longer attempts to send emails to that address. -
Unsubscribed (Global)
Users who opted out of all EVERFI emails and will not receive any Foundry notifications. -
Unsubscribed (by List)
Users who opted out of a specific type of Foundry email, such as Conduct & Culture reminders. These users will still receive other notification types.
Bounced and unsubscribed users
This section provides filters and detailed fields to help locate specific users. Fields include:
- Email – Learner’s email address
- Bounced – Indicates whether the email address is flagged as bounced
- Unsubscribed (Global) – Indicates a global unsubscribe
- Unsubscribe List – Name of the specific unsubscribe list
- Unsubscribe List Description – Description of what the list applies to
If a learner wants to re‑subscribe to emails, they must do so from their own account:
- Log in to Foundry
- Open My Profile from the menu under their name
- Select Edit Profile
- Scroll to Notification Preferences and opt back in
CSV download
You can download the Email Activity: Unsubscribed report as a CSV file for further review or record‑keeping.
Note about the unsubscribe option
Including an unsubscribe option in emails helps ensure reliable delivery. It signals to email providers that Foundry emails are legitimate and reduces the risk of messages being marked as spam. Testing has shown that emails with an unsubscribe option have significantly better delivery rates.
