Learner Experience (SCORM)
Understand how learners access and complete SCORM courses
When using a SCORM integration, learners access and complete their Foundry courses through your organization’s LMS or HRIS, not directly through the Foundry platform.
How learners access SCORM courses
- Learners log in to your LMS or HRIS
- Courses are launched from your organization’s LMS or HRIS interface
- The course opens at your LMS or HRIS URL
How course content is delivered
- Course pages, media, and assets are loaded from the Foundry content server
- The learner completes the course within the embedded content window provided by the LMS or HRIS
How progress is tracked
- As the learner progresses, course events (such as progress, completion, or exit) are first recorded by Foundry
- Once Foundry receives these events, they are passed back to the LMS or HRIS using the SCORM API
- This ensures that both systems reflect the same course status and completion data
As a result, the learner’s progress and completion status remain synchronized between Foundry and the external LMS or HRIS.
Key takeaway
From the learner’s perspective, the experience is seamless:
- Courses are launched and completed in the LMS or HRIS
- Progress and completion are tracked consistently across systems
- No additional action is required by the learner to sync results
