Answers to common questions about Foundry emails and notifications

What is the email address that Foundry messages come from

All automated Foundry messages come from automated-message@everfi-foundry.net. It is crucial that this domain and email address are added to your organization’s allowlist to ensure learners receive platform invitations and reminders.

Browse the allowlist on our Minimum System Requirements page for more information.

When are invitations sent out after I create my assignment

Foundry works on UTC (Universal Coordinated Time). If an assignment is created after 8:00 p.m. EST, it will start running immediately, as it is already considered “tomorrow” in UTC (12:00 a.m. UTC).

For example, if you create an assignment at 8:30 p.m. EST on 7/14 with a start date of 7/15, invitations may go out immediately, depending on the assignment queue.

Time zone reference:

  • 12:00 a.m. UTC = 8:00 p.m. EST
  • 12:00 a.m. UTC = 7:00 p.m. CST
  • 12:00 a.m. UTC = 5:00 p.m. PST

*Times may vary due to Daylight Saving Time.

Why do invitations and reminders have an unsubscribe option

Including an unsubscribe option helps ensure our emails reach a learner’s inbox. It signals to email service providers that Foundry emails are legitimate and prevents recipients from marking them as spam, which could block future emails entirely.

We have tested email delivery both with and without unsubscribe options, and including the unsubscribe option significantly improves delivery.

We also recently improved the unsubscribe functionality. When a learner unsubscribes from a reminder email, they will still receive future invitation emails. See the Email Activity report for more information.

Note: If learners click Unsubscribe before completing a course, they will no longer receive reminders, due date notifications, or other related emails. Encourage learners to wait until they have completed the course—and do not expect to take additional courses—before clicking Unsubscribe. You may choose to include this guidance in your course invitation message.

Can I turn off all Foundry emails to learners

Yes. Administrators can turn off assignment invitations and reminders. Both options are turned on by default and can be configured when creating an assignment.

We do not recommend turning off assignment invitations for first-time users if you do not have SSO integration enabled. Without invitations, learners would need to use the Forgot Password option to access the platform.

For Quick Assignments, administrators can edit the invitation email setting up until the start date (status = Scheduled).

For Automated Assignments, administrators can edit this setting up until the Automation Stop Date or Closed Date (status = Scheduled or Started). If an Automated Assignment is already in progress and the Do not send invitations option is selected, no new invitations will be sent unless they were already queued. This setting applies to all new learners added to the Automated Assignment.

Can I turn off Foundry emails for specific learners

While we do not recommend disabling Foundry communications broadly, it is possible to do so on an individual basis for certain scenarios involving Higher Education students, Higher Education faculty and staff, and Workplace Training learners.

Within a user’s record, administrators can choose to prevent invitations and/or reminders from being sent to that specific individual.

This functionality is separate from the unsubscribe option. If a learner clicks Unsubscribe in an email, these email suppression settings will not apply. In that case, administrators must submit a support ticket to resubscribe the learner. See the section above for more information on unsubscribing.
