Assignments Overview

Learn how to get started with assigning learning activities in Foundry

Overview

Assignments are how learners access and complete ComplyEQ content in Foundry. A single assignment can be sent to any number of learners and can include multiple learning activities.

Assignments also allow administrators to organize, manage, and track learner activity at an aggregate level. Common use cases include annual compliance training, onboarding programs, and required courses for new or returning learner groups.

What You’ll Need

Before creating an assignment, it’s recommended to have the following components set up so you can apply them quickly and consistently:

Assignment Types

Foundry supports two types of assignments: Quick Assignments and Automated Assignments. The key difference between these assignment types is how learners are selected and assigned training.

Quick assignments

Quick Assignments require you to manually select a specific group of learners.

  • All selected learners receive the assignment on the same start date
  • All learners share the same due date
  • Best suited for fixed groups with a defined training window
Automated assignments

Automated Assignments assign training on a rolling basis based on learner criteria rather than a fixed list of users.

  • Learners are automatically added when they meet defined criteria
  • Ideal for ongoing programs such as onboarding or role‑based training
  • Reduces manual assignment management
Part 2 assignments

Some ComplyEQ courses include a Part 2 follow‑up activity. When assigning these courses, there is no need to create a separate assignment for Part 2.

Assigning the full course automatically includes both Part 1 and Part 2 learning activities.
